Once again, the Hill Country Arts Foundation annual retreat provided a creative jump-start to the new year. Martha Rea Baker completed three 30″ acrylic squares inspired by a recent trip to the south of France.

The Hill Country Artis Foundation presented an exhibit of the seventeen artists’ work in the beautiful Duncan-McAshen Visual Art Center on the foundation campus.

Martha Rea Baker recently completed two additional paintings from the 2017 Hill Country Arts Foundation art retreat.

This diptych, created with liquid and heavy body acrylic paints on Ampersand 2″ cradled Gessobord, is enhanced with oil pastel and  china  marker line work.

With this last painting completed in 2016 we send warm wishes for a creative and productive new year! Martha Rea Baker will be returning to the Texas Hill Country for her twelvth annual January painting retreat. The Hill Country Arts Foundation provides an inspirational setting for both visual and performing arts and is an excellent resource for professional artists and students, alike.

Stay tuned — we will post work completed during the retreat which culminates with an exhibit in the Duncan-McAshan Visual Arts Center on the HCAF campus.

Martha Rea Baker has just returned from her annual “Artists With-Out Limits” painting retreat to the Texas Hill Country. During this productive studio time at the Hill Country Arts Foundation in Ingram, TX, Martha created eight new paintings.

To begin the 2014 exhibition schedule, the Hill Country Arts Foundation installed a show of paintings created during this year’s retreat or in previous years and opened the exhibit, “AWOL-Artists With-Out Limits-2014” with a reception on Saturday, January, 11. Martha created three 24″ square paintings for the show in the first four days of this year’s retreat on the theme of “Seasons”. The canvases depicting one winter and two autumn scenes are posted below.
