Martha Rea Baker has been busy in the studio working on requested large acrylics for Allison Brown Simmons in Jackson, MS. With an eye on the collector, the gallery staff continues to request light neutrals in cream, white and grey, accented with a hint of color. Spring, a time of renewal and regeneration, is the perfect inspiration for this palette.

Two new acrylic paintings have recently been shipped to Brown’s Fine Art in Jackson, MS, Martha Rea Baker’s long time gallery.
Perhaps the colors of Autumn inspired these two new paintings.

Martha Rea Baker’s long time gallery Brown’s Fine Art in Jackson, MS featured her work in a one woman exhibition in May of 2013. The paintings were beautiful hung in an intimate salon just off of the main entry to the gallery. We have posted some select photographs of the exhibit below.
This survey exhibit included encaustic, acrylic, oil/cold wax paintings and miniature watercolors from the versatile artist.
Brown’s Fine Art in Jackson, MS, is featuring new work by Martha Rea Baker on Thursday, May 2 for Fondren after Five. Baker has shipped nine recently completed acrylic canvases, two 12″ square oil/cold wax panels and sixteen miniature watercolors to the galley for the upcoming show. Gallery co-owner, Joel Brown states, “We’re getting ready for another great show at Brown’s! The paintings range from four by five foot canvases to miniature watercolors 5″ square painted on location in Georgia O’Keeffe’s beloved northern New Mexico.
Brown’s Fine Art is Mississippi’s premier fine art gallery and has represented Martha for over 25 years. The gallery, known for its expert framing skills selects the perfect frame for each piece. Martha credits Mary Grace Brown and her son and daughter, Joel and Allison, for continued growth and success of her art career.
Martha has recently finished two 36″ square canvases for Brown’s Fine Art in Jackson, MS. Pink Field I & Pink Field II work as a diptych, a pair or individually and were inspired by a recent commission that Martha completed for a Brown’s collector.
